Land Acknowledgement
As we are based in modern-day Phoenix, Arizona, Buffalo Jump Records acknowledges the 22 Indigenous/Native Nations that have inhabited this land for centuries. We acknowledge that we are located in the traditional homelands of the Akimel O’Odham (Pima) and Pee Posh (Maricopa) peoples and before that those of the ancient Hohokam peoples. These mighty peoples have stewarded these lands in which we can live and create our productions of Indigenous music. Our studios are situated not far from one of the ancient Hohokam canals that brought water and life to the area. That canal technology was adopted by those non-Natives who settled Phoenix.
Our team occasionally works out of the San Francisco Bay Area, on the unceded territories of the Ohlone peoples and the Coastal Miwok (who, along with the Southern Pomo, are organized as the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria).
